Professionalism and personal Brand were the focus of the presentation for Walker Industrie’s Trucking Division in Owen Sound Ontario recently. With a trucking industry in flux having a presentation about professionalism is critically needed.
I was excited to get the call to talk to a room of drivers getting ready for a busy construction season with Walker Industries.
The session started off with a presentation from IHSA reviewing safety in the trucking industry from safe driving techniques to pre-trip inspections. This was followed by my presentation on titled “More Than a Driver: Building Your Brand Behind the Wheel” which focuses on personal brand as a driver and encompasses driver professionalism, safety, driver pride, and communication skills. With a room full of experienced drivers this presentation comes as a reminder to be on top of your game. With challenges in training, professionalism, and a focus on Red Seal Certification in the industry this presentation was even more important.

It can be hard to know if your message is getting through to the drivers so at the end of the presentation I asked the drivers to write on a piece of paper one thing they took away from the presentation.
The names were then entered into a raffle for a custom truck caricature. Congrats to Brian for winning the caricature.
