Lead Pedal Media Covers National Recruiting and Retention Symposium 2026

Transrep held their annual National Recruiting and Retention Symposium in Burlington Ontario this week and Lead Pedal Media was on hand to cover the event. This almost decade long event has grown substantially over the years and recently held their largest event ever at the Holiday Inn Convention Centre in Burlington Ontario. The packed event had a number of takeaways that made it special and continues to impact the recruiting part of Canada’s trucking industry for the future. This event is focused on recruiting and retention for the industry and showcases how carriers can hire better drivers for their fleets making the roads safer for everyone. Each presentation offered major takeaways, too many to mention on one article so I invite you to keep an eye on our podcast for longer recaps in the near future.

Tim Arnold was the keynote speaker for the event and gave a great presentation on being a leader and how that can help you be successful in recruiting and retention efforts. His presentation “Lead With AND” I have seen a couple times now and is a great talk for anyone focused on improving themselves.

Scott Thomas’s son was one of the sixteen people killed in the Humboldt bus crash and sat down with Matt Richardson of KRTS Inc to talk about the crash and how it has affected the families and the trucking industry. He is advocating for industry change and his story will bring a tear to every eye in the crowd.

There were a number of awards presented some of which are part of their annual curriculum and others that were a surprise. Congrats to Mohini Ramnarine of Challenger Motor Freight who won the National Recruiter of the Year for 2026. Way to go Mohini.
